Carrizo Springs, Texas April 1, 2021

In late March, 2021, my husband and I traveled to Texas to see with our own eyes what was really happening at the border. Were kids really coming across the border unaccompanied? How many? Who was taking care of them? Where were they staying? We wanted to see a child detention facility that was not being shown on the news, because we wanted to see the truth.

Here is the Facebook post that I made on April 1, 2021:

The Studios at Carrizo Springs - sounds a little "Resort" like, right?
I explained where I was from and what I was there for, and was told in no uncertain terms that I would NOT be able to see how many children were being held there, nor would I be able to see the conditions under which they were being held. Even a mother's tears got me nowhere.
I did not see a single child outside, and the officers I spoke with said that they had no idea how many children were there. On our way into and out of the facility, however, we saw a minimum of 6 12 passenger vans either bringing people in or leaving to pick up more HUMAN BEINGS. We were there for a maximum of 10 minutes. That math is astounding
Basically, I was told that no-one gets in without an appointment, and that I would not be able to obtain an appointment. If I want information about what is happening behind those fences, I would have to apply for a FOIA, which I will do, but how much do I trust what that FOIA might contain? ZERO TRUST, ZERO CONFIDENCE!
I must have asked too many questions, because they threatened to arrest me, tow the RV, and they told me that it would be a long walk home.
This is our government at work here - transparency clearly does not exist.
